"Contrary to what has been announced these last days, Newcastle didn't inflict me a fine of more than 55 000 €. Once again, some journalists had fun to tell whatever. I find that really regrettable that the press persists on me and on Newcastle. The most incredible, it is that I never speak to the English press. Then when I read in the newspapers that I criticized the choices of Bobby Robson, I ask a lot of questions. I discussed some with Bobby Robson. He/it confirmed to me that the club sustained me and than well evidently, this fine besides 55 000 €. was a pure invention of the press. All my team mates are also with me. I come back toward you tomorrow for an interview, one will enter a few more in the details."

ellas,

This is not web auto-translated - but my own interpretation.

"Contrary to what has been announced in the last few days, Newcastle didn't fine me 55,000 euros. Yet again, some journalists amused themselves by making up stories from nothing. I find it really regrettable that the press harps on about me and Newcastle. Most incredible, is that I never even speak to the English press !

Then when I read in the papers that I have criticised Bobby Robson' selections, I have to ask myself a lot of questions. I discussed some of these with Bobby. He confirmed that the club supported me and it was quite clear as well that the 55,000 euro fine story was a total fabrication by the press. All my team mates are equally supportive of me.

I'll return tomorrow for an interview, to fill in the blanks a bit more."

ellas, here is my self interpreted version. By the way, I may not be as good at French as Boris.

"They are all bastards!! All 55,000 of the press buggers. They just make things up about me and that fine northern UK town (not too sure about that bit, it may be that northern town that gets lots of fines). I cannot speak to the press, because I am too ignorant to speak proper English, so they just make up the stories.

Neither Bobby Robson or my team mates can speak proper English either, so the press always make up quotes from us. Every time the press make up a story, the club pay me loads of money, so really I am happy with the English Press, as last year I made 55,000 euros."

Hope that translation helps. Mr. M.
