kawa Posted January 5, 2011 Report Share Posted January 5, 2011 Hi every body.I want to know more about windows backup.What are the advantages of it?If my windows failed for some reason and wasn't useable anymore,for example because of a damage of hard disk,can I use this backup latter to copy it on my hard disk and use all the programs installed on it wothout ne installation?If yes,how should I make that disk,and how could I use it? Yes you can. With Windows 7 you can make both a simple "Backup", and a "Disk Image"You would use the disk imaging facility rather than backup to do what you ask. If yes,how should I make that disk,and how could I use it? Windows 7 has it's own Disk Imaging. The description of how to use it is HERE - PLEASE CLICK You may find other Disk Imaging software such as ACRONIS or MACRIUM REFLECT FREE EDITION more of an advantage as they offer compression and therefore the resultant image takes up less disk storage space. Full instruction comes with the software. What are the advantages of it? "Important data, including photos, videos, music, documents and applications, are fully protected and can be recovered quickly in the event of any disaster."Many people both "Disk Image" and "Backup" their personal data. Very good software for simple data backup is SECOND COPY Please note that Second Copy cannot be used to disk image and reinstate your operating system.Hope this has been of some help.John. dandy52002 Posted January 10, 2011 Report Share Posted January 10, 2011 I have been trying to back up my system however everytime I try I get the following error 0x800703ee. I see that Disk Imaging might be just as good as a back up. If I am getting this error message will Disk Imaging work or is there a way to resolve the error 0x00703ee I really just want to protect my system should something happen. MANEMAN Posted January 11, 2011 Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 Hi there Dandy, and To be honest the "Error 0x800703ee" can be caused by so many things that it would be impossible to list them all here on the forum.If you *CLICK HERE* and start to read through some of the searches you will understand exactly what I mean.The reason for the error can be wide and varied. :( Have a look through, and somewhere in amongst it all you may find the answer that matches your particular problem.A lot of the time the use of third party software such as Acronis/Macrium/Second Copy, and even freeware backup software can give better results than the offerings given in Windows 7.Post back and let us know how you get on. When you post in future, do try to make it a "New Post" rather than in the middle of someone elses thread. That way it can be identified and answered faster. ;) Hope this has been of some help.
