dandy52002 Posted January 12, 2011 Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 Good afternoon everyone. I'm afraid I posted this in someone else thred yesterday and for that I apologize. I would like to thank Maneman and Bludgard for their support never the less. I would like to follow up with what I have tried so far, the first thing I did was run a Chkdsk which the system did for me after restarting. At that point I tried to do a system back up once again and the system has been running for 8 hours and does not seem to be doing any thing. It says that it is backing up the system and shows a green bar 30% complete. The system has not asked for a new DVD yet I’m unsure if it's doing any thing is this normal?Any help would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
bludgard Posted January 12, 2011 Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 8 hours on a single DVD backup is not acceptable.Single layer or double.8 hours on creating a backup on any device is a bad omen.Have you cleaned, tweaked,repaired or optimized Windows registry?if not,don't.Have you tweaked Windows by changing any Service configurations?Recently or in the distant past?What type of DVD are you using to create backups?DVD R,DVD+R,DVD+RW,etc.Have you ever succeeded in creating a backup?What antivirus/malware are you using?What backup program is being implemented?Try running sfc /scannow with administrative rights via command prompt.If this is caused by system file corruption,it may get it sorted.If you can answer as many of the questions as possible it may help with the diagnostics.One Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dandy52002 Posted January 13, 2011 Author Report Share Posted January 13, 2011 Success.........I was able to create a back up using TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator installed on my computer. Now to answer your questions I have not cleaned, tweaked,repaired or optimized Windows registry. I have not tweaked Windows by changing any Service configurations?Recently or in the distant past. The DVD I was using is DVD+R and no I have never tried to make a back up untill now. The antivirus soft ware I am using is AVG not the free version. I was trying to use the Backup/Restore windows 7 but could not make it work. I was reading and came across Toshiba Recovery Media Creator which is part of my computer I did not know at the time. I gave this a try and everything went well I used 4 DVD's to complete the backup. I really don't know why the system would not backup using windows 7 backup and restore that's a mystery to me.Thank you so much for your help and support........
