johnc131
Have Windows XP and always been able to read JPGs, but for some reason this has stopped working. When double clicking get error message 'file could not be opened'? Any ideas?JohnC131
-pops-
Have you tried a different viewer?
Digerati
Do make sure it does the same thing with other .jpg files too before doing anything drastic. If other files open, then that one is corrupt. If no .jpg files open, then it would seem your file associations are incorrect and as -pops- suggests, try another viewer. johnc131
Have you tried a different viewer?Have reinstalled Quicktime but no better - what other viewer would you suggest? It does happen with all JPGs and they open fine on other PCs and Macs. It appears that something has changed on this PC?
-pops-
IrfanView is a good one to try http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htmThere are lots more - even one included in Windows itself Windows Media Player. If this is a recent occurrence, do a System Restore to a time before it happened. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Have reinstalled Quicktime but no betterWhy Quicktime? The problem occurs with Nero Photo Snap Viewer.
andsome
Try right clicking and select a different viewer. As far as I can see there should be no need to download things like Quick time. I have always found it to be an invasive pain in the ass. Have you tried a system restore to a date before this problem occurred? Do you have a back up of the hard drive in a program such as ACRONIS?:)
johnc131
Hi Guys,Have solved the problem! To start with, I didn't even realise I was using 'Nero Photosnap Viewer'. the solution is: Open Photosnap Viewer, go to 'File' then 'Configure Plug-ins' Highlight top line and select 'Unregister all'. Problem solved! But thanks for all your suggestions.JohnC131West Sussex
