Whoompis Posted January 27, 2011 Report Share Posted January 27, 2011 I am running into the infamous 0x0000007b. I have encountered this issue before, when I had XP. It was easily fixed.Now, I am running on Vista. I saw the BSOD, and thought that I'd have a fiarly simple time fixing the issue again. But....My computer won't boot up. Not even in safe mode. I use the F8 trick, select safe mode, and almost instantly get the BSOD. I can't run it in any other mode either. Not boot logging, not LKGC, nothing. Nothing is letting me get past this BSOD.I am seriously desperate here. I am not really willing to give in and buy a new hard drive or PC. I just want to fix this problem, but am not finding a way around my issue.Please please help! Any advice is more than welcome.Thank you for your time. According to Microsoft: Exit all Windows-based programs.Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.If you receive the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.Locate and then click one of the following registry subkeys:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MsahciHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorVIn the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.On the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor./>http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976Hope this helps. andsome Posted January 27, 2011 Report Share Posted January 27, 2011 I cannot help with this problem, but once it is sorted there are steps to take. Buy a plug in USB hard drive of at least 1TB, and using ACRONIS or similar make regular mirror images of the C drive. Any advice is more than welcome.Thank you for your time.Hi,Whoompis.Welcome to Windows Forum.Can you boot into BIOS by pressing F1 or F2?I didn't see what machine you have so I do not know the correct choice.If you can get to BIOS,check that the SATA controller is either set to AHCI or IDE,whichever is not shown when you enter the controllers' option menu.This couldn't hurt since the drive is already not recognized.Possibly disconnect all connectors to the drive and then reconnect.This has worked for me before.
