deleting window not closing in vista

Recommended Posts

there are a number of utilities that deal with such problems, specifically I am thinking of CloseAll from NTWind software

if the problem occurs next time you open that app you may need to look at something else, but try this first. It is principally designed to shut down all open apps so you don't have to remember the shortcut or do it one-by-one, but it might sort you out :)

What is it we are dealing with, then, Freddy?

I assure you I don't have the first clue. Although it would seem to me that whatever the program may be most likely uses a lot of RAM or is in use by your system while trying to close or "delete" it.

Which is it? Closing or deleting? You certainly cannot do both at once.

Since you haven't provided information on your operating system nor machine specs, it would seem the Ouija board that MANEMAN has suggested is your best bet.

Have a good one.

Great....

Now I have 3 windows that wont close.....

deleting..... canceling..... And the snipping tool stopped working while I was using that too, so that ones just hanging there now aswell.

I took a picture of the deleting window clicked the cancel button to see if it would do anything this time and got the canceling window up too.

Something makes me think Ive got a virus.

No actually this bits an edit, looks like the deleting window has gone but left me with the canceling window.

Freddy, what have you tried to remedy this?

Have you tried the basics?

1) Cleaning out old/unused files from browser and system with a tool like CCleaner.

2) Running chkdisk from an elevated command prompt.

3) Running sfc /scannow from the install media.

4) Defragging the HDD.

It still sounds like a memory issue to me, though....

If you could provide some details of your machine, it may help with diagnostics.

Speccy is an excellent tool for finding out what hardware is installed on your macine.

Memtest is a reliable application for checking the memeory modules installed. Burn it to CD and boot from it. Let it run for at least 6 - 10 passes.
