The problem is I don't have an option for to boot from Windows 7 when I start up because when Windows XP loaded it overwrote the boot.ini file to its own settings. I know I can use the Windows 7 DVD to repair the startup settings and then install a custom bootloader, but is there possible method? Can I just modify the boot.ini file manually to load Windows 7? pawz7 Posted March 11, 2011 Report Share Posted March 11, 2011 W7 does not have a boot.ini file like XP. I think you need to download easy BCD Manager which will help with the dual-boot. Quite what you do with it - I don't know, never having used it, but I recall the same query being raised a few months back - possibly on this same forum, where this utility was recommended. hope this helps. -pops- Posted March 12, 2011 Report Share Posted March 12, 2011 I don't know if this is relevant nowadays but I recall that when XP was the latest offering from MS, it required to be the prime (i.e. first) installation on a multi-boot system.
