D4\/!d Posted March 16, 2011 Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Have you just installed the new IE9 (64 bit version) on your Win7 x64 system.I understand there are performance problems and you are advised to use the 32 bit version of IE9 with your Win7 x64 system.Anybody else come accross this? Digerati Posted March 16, 2011 Report Share Posted March 16, 2011 Much of the problem with IE9 64-bit is due to the fact it is a 64-bit program. Hardware has supported 64-bit for years but took years before 64-bit drivers were commonplace and even longer for much of the software industry to develop 64-bit versions of their major products. Today, PC hardware makers, Microsoft and most of the software industry have embraced 64-bit. So now our computers are ready (almost) and we are just waiting on the rest of the Internet to catch up. thommango Posted March 24, 2011 Report Share Posted March 24, 2011 According to the benchmarking that ZDNet did, the 64 bit version uses a different javascript engine and is slower than every other browser you can name, including IE8. I was about to download when I realized it was defaulting to the 64bit version. I think I'll wait until they clear that problem up. I prefer Chrome anyways.
