pawz7
BTW I downloaded the Process Explorer and like the windows one - not sure what I look for - two columns one with CPU - most showing 00 and the other with Memory which has biggest figures changing in it - so which is the one I look for to see if a 'hogger'?The CPU column shows what process(es) are using the processor time now. Ideally the system idle process will be showing about 90% most of the time, but you can see at a glance what else is using and how much. On the right pane the columns Description and Company Name will identify the source. Of course there is a lot more to Process Explorer than that but it is useful to know what the situation is when you are having troubles. If you keep it ( or task manager) minimised to the taskbar, you can monitor the activity.

Checked all through it and it had webshots launcher blocked and unblocked it - must have done it at some time - I use webshots for screen saver and desk as I am a dog lover and they have wonderful shots as well - hoping all is well - had one program not repsond when first booted which is why I thought look into every section of firewall and found the blocked on events so unblocked it and nothing has frozen since either and drivers all working fine and even Firefox loading in seconds whereas was taking up to 2 minutes. Crossing everything and thanks for all the help.
