How To Watch My Computers

Recommended Posts

We've got a small home LAN - four machines and now one machine outside in the shed.

Now I've got two machines, mine and 'my' outside machine in the shed.

So I can put the shed machine to work doing something for me after dark, when the day is ended, when we're all inside. While I'm doing my normal humdrum stuff on my machine inside - answering emails and whatever. Excellent.

But I don't want to keep going outside to see how it is getting on. How can I best watch what it is doing? This is a Windows XP LAN. Wireless and ethernet.

Currently I take a look at directories that are effected by the prog I've got running and monitor file changes, but this isn't a very good way sometimes.

And that doesn't enable me to put it to work doing something else. I'd like to be able to do that, too.

I need a freeware prog or a simple technique that uses existing available methods within a Windows LAN.

Anyone got any ideas?

regards,

ab :)
