I haven't used Excel much in the past, but these days I use it sometimes for various tasks. I'm using Excel 2003.

I am generating Excel output from my book project, to transfer data to other places. Here is a screenshot of part of a document generated earlier today:

My question is: what is that little green triangle that is sometimes shown beside a cell (right of C6)?

(Just curious; my life does not depend on it.)

I use the notes/comments [shift+F2] in Excel a lot - that gives a red triangle.

The green one tells me the formula is unlike the neighbouring cells - not that I want to know that - it can be annoying.

For example if I add part of the column to get a s/total, then cross cast a row into that column it shows up Green coz it's different to the neighbours. Yeah I know it is !

It indicates a formula inconsistency with the surrounding cells. :)
