bladerunner
I installed ubuntu onto my computer so that I could dual boot linux and windows.I am new at linux and want to be able to use the features it has. Once I finished loading the operating system I noticed the wireless wasn't working. I have looked online and had very little success in finding something that could help me get the wireless working. I have found some drivers but do not know how to install them. I am not familiar with the linux file system such as rpm and tar. I would like to know how to install these files on my system so that I can get my wireless working. I am trying to install a Ralink 5930 wifi card. If anyone can help help it would be greatly appreciated. I am a new user and don't know the commands so baby steps please. Thanks in advance. Boris
You would have found it easier if you had run your Ubuntu from the Live CD before installing and seen if the wireless was working, rather than installing it and findiing out after the event. You would probably find that Mint http://www.linuxmint.com/ would have been more likely to recognise the wireless connection automatically, rather than having to play with ndiswrapper http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ndiswrapper/index.php?title=Main_Page to get the wireless connected.
