Nagazman368
My computer cannot connect to the internet. In network sharing center, it shows that the cable is plugged in, but it identifies my home netwok as an unidentified network or public network and doesnt connect. i have tried all the ip config commands in cmd, i have restarted my router and modem, i have pllugged it in straight to the modem, restarted my computer a couple of times, and got nothiing. But I read on a post somewhere to look in my device manager to look for and warnings. There was none on my NIC card, and the driver was up-to-date.But right below it, it had a warning next to VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller so i figure that the driver is out of date. Long story short, is the driver out of date? and if it is, how do i get it on my computer. because i cant download it (doesnt connect to internet) Note: this has happened to me 2 time before. I took it in and the idiot there said it was heat (it wasnt) and a week ago. so i got a new NIC because thats what the idiot guy did and it worked for a while. Note 2: The NIC card a 1 week old TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI Gigabit Network Adapter drivers are updated.
-pops-
The VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller is for Firewire devices - which I don't think is related to this problem. The first thing I do with problems like this is a thorough check of all connecting cables and a check that all cards are fully plugged home. This may not be the answer but it's not costing anything to check. Please provide some details of your operating system.
Nagazman368
all the cables work fine, i tried them with my xbox and connected to xbl. But it wouldn't connect when it was plugged into the router, so i plugged it straight to the modem and it worked. But when i plug my computer into the modem, it has the same problems its been having. I just think that's weird. Im running windows 7 x64

Nagazman368
So, I fixed it. I went into my BIOS and disabled my on board LAN adapter and the 1394 host controller, then reistalled my NIC card drivers and it worked!I have no idea why the onboard LAN adapter went out a year ago though... but whatever
