I seem to have lost IE8 and tried everything

I dont use IE8 often as use ?Firefox but now on Firefox9.01 and cant load IE tabs so went to IE 8 and it shuts down or goes blank page only outline etc so uninstalled and reinstalled new version.

Same thing. Went to M$ support page and downloaded Mr Fix It and this stopped CoolIris and also said AGhook running but could not fix also turned on some services.

So tried calling up IE8 - nothing - searched - only things found 2 one on start menu and one on quick launch which incidently is in Chinese then IE in full in Englisn and again Chinese has been all the while - I got it as went to newspapaper which said browser out of date have to update and had had problem with FF 8 and IE2 Tab so thought IE6 no longer good enough to support the IE2 Tab and got IE8.

Baffled as to what to do. I did have a program called Wipe which was recommended but found it to have done some damage to programs and stuff. Like all the icons on my bookmarks has disappeared and I spent a time uninstalling and reinstalling programs that it affected.

Always had a problem with IE7 and so rolled back to IE6 etc. Now 6 seems to have gone as when I unstalled IE8 it should have loaded surely?

I have tried several times what happens is IE8 loads updates etc etc then says installation terminated and restart and then it loads and starts up after normally so suppose it loads in safe mode - but then not there.

Firefox 9.01 without tabs and with my screen resolution sometimes cant read a web site as a banner on the right blots out 1/3 or so of the screen - changing from 800.600 which is where I operate due to eyes to across to far side and sometimes it is clear but more often still has a banner so Firefox it self maybe. Also M$ says when using FF update have to go load a browser from them etc

Also tried bringong back MSN which I had taken off years ago but that also refused to load had a problem missing files I reckon as this was the problem after wipe it wiped out files on programs etc

Any ideas?

No idea about IE8 as I don't have it but neither do I have IE tabs or need to, I get all my updates and have only used IE once in the last couple of years

rolling back ie worked for me too, also in internet settings go to internet options, advanced tab and click on reset. To reset internet explorer settings.

I gave up guys and returned the OS to its original via Dell Recovery which uses Ghost and eveything is working fine now.

In fact programs I have used for years now not only work well but look a bit different too.

Have had hundreds of patches etc down used up over 1.5gigs and of course they snuck in IE8 but as IE6 was closing down - semsed inevitable. thing is is just aint looking anything like what it once did which was very like IE6 with tabs etc.

Now is has 2 black lines where favourites etc lurk as I found holding the cursor to see what was there - is that how it should be?

I dont think they do skins but anyway as I only rely on it for IE2 Tabs on Firefox - not to worry all working and so only 1 version of it which was the problem before - more than 1 in the program file and also lost the bits it needed like uninstall.

Used Pro verson of Revo Uninstall - currently have a 20 day trial and it is very good for forced uninstall. But too late for me as didnt

know and had free version before and use it in preference to anything else as it gets the bits and peices that W$ leaves behind also

using Ccleaner same. Worth getting imo. Free or Pro as Pro cleans traces/caches same as CCleaner.
