jzagaja
I was told MS does not track XP numbers and need several XP licenses for self made PCs. One shop offers several XP image discs with keys and says I can buy one Win7 license to activate several XPs. Is it true? I thought the opposite is legal i.e. one XP and several Win7 licenses for activation but then such downgrade is stupid - why we have to pay so much for an unsupported system? MANEMAN
You will learn a lot about such matters, and find answers to your questions at the Licensing FAQ website Here: http://www.microsoft...ensing_faq.aspx And the Legal & Corporate Site here: http://www.microsoft...ms/Default.aspx John. bludgard
I will throw in a bit on this; XP is being guarded very heavily in the last few months. Any posts dealing with modding BIOS, SLP, OEM, VLK, or any other key/install process is being yanked/deleted/banned. I personally think it is a step to push Windows 7. Windows 7 is still pretty mutch in open season, though. XP is getting close to it's end of life and M$ doesn't want to deal with it anymore. JMHO. jzagaja
Windows XPro OEM is about $60 while Seven is $180. For running simple text mode applications is sufficient if not better. Linux could be used but printing etc. is easier in Win. Any other option, maybe XP Embedded?
