biferi
I have win7. Home Premiume 64 Bit and I did have Avast Virus program and MailwareBytes. I did and update on both and ran them and they found nothing. And I ran command pront as Administartor and ran sfc/scannow and it found nothing. So I got rid of both of these programs and got Windows Security Esantles 64 Bit and did an update and then ran it it found nothing. But this is my prablem? I go into Controle Pannale and then system security. Then I go to security center. When I am in security center it says security center is turned off. I click turn on Now Tab and it tells me security center can not be started. and this happens with Firewall as well?
MANEMAN
I had a similar problem with "Task scheduler" recently on 64bit. Spent so much time trying to fix it that I decided it was quicker (Smaller billing) to do a fresh install. ( I had suspicions towards the end that it was a rootkit causing problems in "Services" ) Never had time to check it out because the owner of the computer wanted it done quick ! - Dont they all ??? !!! System restore backwards if you can. Give it a deep Rootkit Scan in "Safe Mode" with something other than what you have got there at the moment. Check that Security center is running in "Services" Even If after running sfc/scannow - wscui.cpl - (in Windows Sys32) - is missing. - Replace it. Have a look through Mike Halsey's videos here on the forum to see if there are any hints worth having: http://forums.window...showtopic=48268 http://forums.window...showtopic=48409 Mike is also offering a free ebook: http://www.thelongcl...n7powerfree.pdf ( Right click and "Save as Target" ) Nothing better than a Microsoft MVP to talk you through things. - If they know what they are talking about ! - Which Mike indeed does. :)( I put his guides on the forum here back in April 2011) If you've got spare time on your hands "Get down and geeky with it". If you haven't and you have someone pressuring you over money or time just do a fresh install, it saves a lot of hassle and earache. Be good for you (Diagnostic wise) to take a look at this Google page to see just how many people have managed to mess up a perfectly good operating system:( Very high % of Windows OS faults are man made. - They all blame it on the computer  ) http://www.google.co...iw=1280&bih=607 John.
