-pops- Posted August 28, 2012 Report Share Posted August 28, 2012 A friend just phoned me to ask if I knew the colours of the power wire in a USB cable.I didn't so I suggested he Google for it.Being curious by nature, I asked why he wanted to know. His reply was somewhat astonishing.He said that he was tired of continually changing the batteries on his wireless mouse so he'd had the idea of removing the batteries from the mouse and linking a cable from the battery connections to the power wires in a USB port.It took me a few seconds for this information to sink in - I thought I hadn't heard it right - but I had. It then took me a good ten minutes trying to convince him that this had already been done and the original mice (mouses?) were wired to the computer and this "invention" took away all the benefits of a wireless system.
