What is so brilliant about wide screen?

Some people seem preoccupied with having the latest. One of these seems to be wide screen monitors. My 17" flat screen packed up on me on Friday morning. I was persuaded to look at a wide screen as a replacement. In order to achieve the same height as the old monitor, I chose a 22" model. It works fine, but I must admit that I much preferred my old one. It is a pain in the ass having to scan across the page all the time, I scarcely needed to move my head before. By the time I get across the page and look left for the next line I have lost my place. As far as computer monitors are concerned 4:3 is ideal. Wide screen is fine for television.

Anyone else feel the same?

I have to disagree with you andsome, I have been using a 23" widescreen for about two years now.

Like you I used to have a 17" square screen, but since changing to the wide screen I would not go back.

As I use spreadsheets quite a lot it gives me more screen to be able to see what I am working on and watching movies is a lot nicer than on a square screen, but those are just my thoughts.

I don't do spread sheets, that sounds too much like the obscene 'W' four letter word. We watch movies on the wide screen TV in the comfort of the lounge. B) B)
