Hey bludgard,

Thanks for your help. Somehow the computer got changed from single click where I had it set to double click. I changed it back and it works fine now. In the process somewhere I managed to lose the all programs list when I start the computer. Do you know how to get these back?

Try this:

Click on the Start button, Click on Computer, Open up the C: Drive, open the Program Files folder, perform a CTRL+A (Select all folders), Right click on all the folders, Select Properties. If the "Hidden" check box is selected, uncheck it and see if the start All Program's list is now populated.
