r2nexs
Hi everyone, I'm currently using Windows XP.I downloaded the 32-bit ISO file (it turned out to be 2.6 GB and not 2.8 GB as mentioned in the download page, is that okay?), burned it on a DVD disc and tried to install. the problem is, it gave me this error:the procedure entry point __cxxframehandler3 could not be located (with the title being setup.exe - Entry point not found). After that there was an error with the autorun file. What could be the problem here? I want to upgrade and try the 8.1, and I thought that maybe the problem was the fact I'm using XP but I've read that it is possible to upgrade from XP. Also, will there be any problems with games in Win 8.1? Thank you!
-pops-
I have recently had great satisfaction by removing W8 from the one computer I had it installed on and reverted to W7. W8 counts among the worst systems that MS have produced - and I don't think its 8.1 successor will be much better. If you want to continue with W8.1, check that the computer hardware is capable of running it then delete XP and install the new version. Be aware that you cannot revert to an earlier Windows version once you have installed W8.1 so ensure you have full backups of your current setup if you have anything on there that you want to retain. r2nexs
I understand its hard getting used to Win8 (or 8.1), but I prefer to install it because I understood its faster. Since I have a relatively old computer (its 5 years old with core 2 duo) I decided it would be best to install the 8.1 preview, and I'll get used to it later. Anyway, I'm not sure I understand you - what I did was burn the ISO file into a DVD and tried to install normally, those are the instructions I saw on many websites. How can I delete XP and install 8.1?Also, once I installed it, if I have the XP installation disc, I still can't install XP? So why should I backup anything? -pops-
The backup is to preserve any data that you wish to keep. It is always better to install new systems on relatively modern machines - in computer terms 5 years is approaching the ancient. The instructions you have seen on many websites is obviously not working for you - hence my suggestion to delete XP from the drive (by formatting). bludgard
Hi everyone,I downloaded the 32-bit ISO file (it turned out to be 2.6 GB and not 2.8 GB as mentioned in the download page, is that okay?),...No; it is not okay. One needs to download the ISO until one has the complete file; otherwise there will be issues with the install or stability of the system.Once download is complete, check the integrity of the file via SHA-1 hash value.English 32-bit (x86)Download (2.8 GB) SHA-1 hash value: 0x447CCD24EB3DC6CFD9A42E62A5F6418B578E3CBF Good luck with the Win 8 journey! Alan2273
I have just been on the Microsoft download page and as I have a fast broadband I downloaded the 32 bit Windows blue. And although it says it is 2.8 GB's the download was actually 2.59 GB's, so he has the correct file and the problem may lie elsewhere, like a faulty burn, or a corrupted download. bludgard
Thanks for that, Alan2273.Probably inadequate hardware as Win 8 has left the building and lost its way. Baffles me that MS has been through multiple OSs and still the latest is bothersome as a bed bug.
