docmike
I have a file with private health information which is used in my office on a small LAN. I know that the file can be copied by others on my network using drag&drop to a CD or a thumb-drive, whether the file is presently open or closed. Is there any way for me to prevent this from happening?
Gandalph
The only thing I can think of is to Password Lock the file. There are several good locking programs. Try Steganos for starters. I used this program when I used Windows and it worked very well. Do a Google search for Steganos and you will be able to see the programs available. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
You can also simply change the permissions for the file, so that only you can access it, and everybody else is denied.
