wonderland
Hello everyone, so, for the past few days (since Tuesday, I believe) I've been having some issues with the computer, mainly it lagging, freezing and crashing, as well as getting BSODs. It would start with firefox (mostly exactly when using internet, actually) "not responding", eventually freezing, and then freezing other programs - sometimes I was not even able to access the Task Manager, and hat to force shut downs with the power button. After restarting, it would run smoothly for a while, then the whole not responding-freezing process would repeat. I thought it could be a virus, but AVG found nothing, and on Wednesday the computer ran without a problem, so I decided it was just my computer acting up as it is about 3-4 years old. However, yesterday and today the same problems repeated; although I downloaded malware bytes yesterday, I had problems with running it too, it kept freezing up, but after a reboot it finished the scan which showed no viruses or malware either. It's probably worth mentioning that when restarting once and some programs were waiting to close, there came up one named "Laugh : D" (without the space). I didn't find anything like it later. I got a couple of blue screens and I mainly ran on safe mode as whenever I'd use the internet, and it'd start not responding, it ended up with a crash, or with windows restarting. The same thing was happening today.I did not really read into the blue screens as it rebooted quite quickly, and I only managed to capture the last one, which was STOP: 0x000000F4, but I am pretty sure that at least one other was STOP: 0x00000007.Unfortunately, I have no idea what is causing this and I certainly don't know what to do about it, because I can only use the computer normally on safe mode (with networking). Could you please help me? Do you know what could I do to fix this? My specs are:Processor - Intel Core 2 DuoCPU - 2.09 GHzRam - 4 GBGraphics card - Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset FamilySystem type - 64 bitOS - Windows 7 (Home Premium)(Please tell me if I need to include something more, it's my first time posting something like this) And here are my dump files, if it would be of any help. Thank you very much in advance.
Alan2273
Try replacing the CMOS battery and see if that cures the problem.
bludgard
Also try running the machine in Safe Mode w/ Networking for a while and see if the BSOD recurs.
wonderland
Thank you for your sugestions. @bludgard: I've been mostly running on safe mode these days; it doesn't happen while I'm on it. Didn't get a BSOD once, and everything runs smoothly. @Alan2273: I'll try to do it and update on that. Thank you.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Sometimes it also helps to update your device drivers. I have been using DriverMax for many years; try it (the free version, which allows two driver downloads per day).
bludgard
Run IE for a while to see if there are plugins/add-ons that are causing the BSODs with FF.OR: Uninstall or disable Flash player and try to run the machine in regular mode.Check the HDD for corruption with manufaturer specific diagnostic software. wonderland
I have downloaded Driver Max and it turns out almost all of my drivers are outdated. I updated two today and I'll see if I can find the downloads for the rest as it would take a long time to download them two a day.I checked and scanned the HDD with automatic fixing. Everything seems to be running okay now. As of now, there's been no crashes or BSODs, so for now, the problem is fixed, I guess.Thank you for your help!
