skarrlette
I have Windows 7 I have never gotten this message before in my life. When I try to log on it says what is written above. I tried logging on in safe mode it won't log on, doesn't work. First question is what does that mean "Group policy client service failed logon access denied?" Second question how do I get past it? Third questions I have important items on this computer is there a way to move files from the hard drive to another drive without even being able to use the computer? If so how? Thanks in advance for any help :)Skarrlette
Alan2273
Is this a laptop or desktop machine, are you the only user and is it connected to a network?.
skarrlette
Sorry wrong answer its a desktop, and if you mean one user, there is only one login to get on this computer although their are a lot of users on the network but they are just using the internet. Alan2273
Have you got a disk to do a repair install?.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
The first thing I would try is to boot into Last Known Good Configuration: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-last-known-good-configuration#1TC=windows-
skarrlette
Thanks but I read somewhere that if you touch the advanced boot options you can freeze up your computer and not be able to get back in and therefore lose your files is that true? I don't want to lose my files.
Alan2273
Have you ever used a live Linux CD/DVD/USB to recover files with?.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Thanks but I read somewhere that if you touch the advanced boot options you can freeze up your computer and not be able to get back in and therefore lose your files is that true? I don't want to lose my files. Just wondering where you read such a ridiculous statement...?
skarrlette
On the internet and honestly I read it in passing and I was reading a lot of info under this search so I can't say for sure what it was really referring with that statement. I just don't want to lose my files. I have this fear of my computer freezing and shutting down me not being able to access it anymore. So I don't want to do anything to screw it up while I try to find a way to get in.
Irene
Some good suggestions in this - follow the information down through the comments:http://blogs.msdn.com/b/moiqubal/archive/2012/03/04/how-to-fix-quot-the-group-policy-client-service-failed-the-logon-access-denied-quot-error.aspx It all really depends on your level of knowledge and competence, particularly when making any changes in the registry, so proceed with caution. skarrlette
My level of knowledge is limited which is why I'm on here asking what is the best course of action. I can't log onto to my computer, its goes and asks me to choose "start windows normally" or "safe mode" and a couple of other things. How can I log on? When I choose "safe mode' the computer starts up like it will go through it flashes safe mode in the four corners of the screen, but then it flashes "logging off" then it logs off and and it goes back to the log in screen which I can't access because I get that message when i try to log on. This is what I get when I hit F8 Windows Error recovery Windows did not shut down successfully Then I get to choose "Safe Mode""Safe Mode with networking""Safe Mode with configuration"or"Start windows normally"
Alan2273
Do you only get those four options, or is there one for last known good configuration?.Also do you have a DVD with the operating system on it?.
skarrlette
I get only the four....I am looking for cd, what should I do if I find it?
