Phone call from work asking if I could pop in and fix a laptop that had died, yeah OK I thought nowt else to do.2K's active directory had gone ballistic but sorted it. The machine is PC34 of 105, AD had corrupted the login details so I had to change the name to PC034, still no probs as I changed the server.User has complained that the name change will alter how she works and demands I change it back...............Oh me oh my..... Guest nellie2
Oh ho you will love this one then. I have to log on to my PC at work using this smart card... it has all the details of my roaming profile so I can theoretically log into any machine in any office and get at my docs and email etc. Because I travel about a bit I have or had rather a lot of printers installed.. but the default printer is the one in my office. Anyway, the other day it was playing silly buggers and was quite happy to print what I wanted on the Warrington printer but when I tried to get it back to my default printer everything greyed out. So I took all the printers off....... put my default one back on.....no, didn't work. Logged out of my machine, because I noticed it was only when I was trying to print from IE on our intranet that I was having this problem. I thought my IE might be corrupted, so I logged onto a different machine but still the same probs. I gave up and went and got the IT guy as there was only so much I could do cos EVERYTHING is disabled. Anyway... we couldn't get to the bottom of it and were about to give up when an engineer arrived to fix another PC. I'm telling you the gods honest truth here. My PC took one look at the engineer and started to print and do what ever I asked it to. We never did get to the bottom of that one I'm afraid, but the engineer thought it was hilarious, especially cos I kept making him cups of tea so that he would stay a bit longer to intimidate my PC long enough for me to finish what I was doing!!!! :D

Guest nellie2
It wasn't honest........ it took me all morning to do something that should have taken me 15 minutes.... and that was my expenses so it was dead important too. doug
Similar problem with my water power washer - great toy by the way. One day it locked up. Tried all things conceicable. Thought to myself, well I always wanted a set of Torx drivers (funny Alan keys) so I went out and treated myself. Got back home said the the washer "right you bugger one last chance or I'll strip you down and have a go at the pressure switch". Lo and behold it was working. Now was that pure chance or was it scared of me taking taking it apart?
Guest nellie2
I think it was you just dying for an excuse to get some Torx drivers. Bet you couldn't get down to B&Q fast enough. :D
