bludgard
Disabling Fast Startup has successfully sorted this particular issue on many HPs running Win 8 in the past for me. Might be worth a try....

George Janis
System restarting/closing down is generally faulty RAM or overheating or Power Supply. First check & clean RAM, power supply and check your fan working fine. May be your issues will solve, otherwise you can take help any technical supports like Geek Squad, Click4Support, iToK, etc.
