sportspinephysio
I have new hardware and installed Windows 8.So I scan a page and go to open it. It is now a .jpg fileIt won't open and the pop up says it can't open the file because UAC is disabled! WTF?I open the UAC window and it has no enable or disable button. It as a slide to notify or not about changes to the system. What has the UAC settings got to do with opening a .jpg? I change the slide setting and it makes no difference to the window popping up again telling me the UAC is disabled.
Irene
Not sure if this will help, but it's worth a look at:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/turn-user-account-control-on-off#1TC=windows-
-pops-
Do you have administrator rights?
sportspinephysio
All solved but I don't know why.So I have administrator rights.I simply restarted the computer, it updated some things taking about 5 min, and presto it opened the .jpg when I tried.Still don't understand how UAC was going to change it's ability to open the .jpgThen again when it comes to technology I make fire by rubbing two sticks together.......Thanks for your consideration.
