Keyboards wont work on xp system

Recommended Posts

I had a Brouser highjacker and when I got rid of it. The keyboard quit working, I tried another one that works on other computers and nothing. So To get into xp I have to go ctrl+alt+delete but I can't and I can't get into bios or anything else because i have no keyboard. The computer isn't here so I don't know the boot order. if it goes into the DVD first I can boot a Linux program. First if anyone has a solution within my xp, I would appreciate hearing them. But My final question is if the boot order goes through the hardrive first instead, can I unplug the hardrive so it will have to go to the second boot which would be my dvd.

Yes you can unplug the hard drive, but you will need to set the boot order to DVD in the BIOS then as it will probably search for the hard drive and not find it.

Is this a USB keyboard or PS2?.

I can't set the boot order because I have no keyboard to get into anything, Bios included . It goes to a message that I have to use ctrl + alt+delete to get into the operating system but of course I can't do that because I have no keyboard. So if my boot order is set up , Hard drive first and cd second . Thats brings me back to the original question, if I disconect the hardrive , since it isn't their any more will it skip to the next boot option in the boot order. I tried , Wifi keyboard, usb keyboard and the old round plug in type. The mouse is working. All solutions have to be with not using the keyboard.

I should have said in my original reply, that if it finds no hard drive it will automatically search for any other bootable media.
