The operating system is WINDOWS 7.

Suppose i open WORD and list all the folders and files. There are 400 of them.

Is it possible to copy the names of these files and paste them somewhere so tha I can make a printout.

I did select all the folders and files, then I right clicked in the shaded area and chose COPY.

I chose WORD and selected PASTE. It stated that it could not cpaste the data.

So, the question is, is it possible to do what I indicated in line 3?

Try using one of these free tools ?

DirLister 1.1

or I personally prefer the slightly more comprehensive

Karen's Directory Printer v5.3.2

- use the Save to Disk option rather than actually printing :)
