Le Mans 24 Hr

Been watching the coverage of Le Mans on Quest TV, Good in that it's an event that has not had appropriate coverage in the UK for years. Bad in that the coverage was garbage, continuous verbal diarrhoea from commentators that never shut up for a second. Coverage that was totally centred on how British it was told you about the British drivers, how British the teams were, how British Dunlop tyres were. Way over the top, such parochial reporting is to be expected from American media but the way they forgot to mention anyone not from the UK was silly.

Then we get to the race coverage, the cars seemed almost an afterthought as the viewers would clearly find interviews with a myriad back-room bods way more interesting and even if they did show the cars it seemed almost at random which one got on screen. To add insult to injury many of the cars shots were from a helicopter that was too far away to properly show what they were filming, much of the time it could have been a couple of Skodas on the m42. Even on the final laps, did we get to watch the cars uninterrupted ? Nope many close ups of happy Germans with flags or some guy in the Porsche garage that looked suspiciously like Charles Dyson of vacuum cleaner fame.
