pashugoinh123
Hello !About a month ago the HDD of my Acer 7750G laptop decided to teach me a lesson about backing up data and not putting all the information on the same data storage device no matter how reliable the classic HDD has become. The hdd failed and I tried to fix it with a recovery software and damaged it even further. I took it to a data recovery firm and they managed to recover some data but most of it is non usable(I am referring to .dwg files). The following message appears when I attempt to open a damaged .dwg file: "Drawing file is not valid"
Alan2273
If the professionals could not recover all the files intact is is a lost cause. But there may be hope if you can follow this guide.http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-File-Corruption.html

raysdenny
I wouldn't sweat trying to figure out what's wrong with the file you've been working on. With the several million lines of code, you could spend years trying to figure it out. The guru's at Autodesk will sometimes run a program or two on it to try and recover it but, in my time as an application engineer for Autodesk, it's always been better to just go back to the backup file.
