Sureshot Posted October 14, 2003 Report Share Posted October 14, 2003 Hi all,I am not too sure how to do this from start to finish but I was hoping that maybe someone could point me in the right direction with regards the tools (software etc) that I would need to make a map.I want to have a map of Glasgow with small pointers on it acting as links to take a person to a page or frame at the side that shows them more about the specific attraction at that location. moon Posted October 15, 2003 Report Share Posted October 15, 2003 Here's a complete novice's answer.Open your map in your graphics software and use the crop function to select the area you want to create a link to. Save that using 'save as' so that it's stored as an individual file. Do that to every area of the map you want to link to. You can then reassemble all the seperate images in your web-page builder and give each its own hyperlink to wherever you choose. When you run your cursor over a link it will show up. What i was looking for was within each section to have a small symbol over the area where a place of interest lies and then be able to click on it and see more information about it. Tony Posted October 15, 2003 Report Share Posted October 15, 2003 Hi Sureshot OK in your graphics program, add the dot's or what ever symbol you want to act as the link, save it as ???????.jpgIn DW MX insert the picture you have just made onto the web page.Click on the picture (so it has a boarder with square blocks in the corners)Then in the "properties" panel at the bottom of the screen, in the bottom left you will see the MAP options, there are 3 shapes. select the shape you want to use, go move the mouse over your picture, then draw around your link symbol by holding the left mouse button, your shape will turn light blue.Then all you do is add the URL you want to link to in the Properties box at the bottom off the screen where the MAP options are.It really is very easy to doGood luckTony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have been mucking about with buttons tonight trying to figure out animation. This is what i have come up with so far but I am struggling to animate it so it reacts the same way a button would. What thing would you like to see if it was a guide to a city? I so far have Places to Stay, Places to Go, Places to Shop, and Places to Eat. I was going to have a gallery of pictures of the city, and also a form that you can request a fact sheet about the city. Then i will have links to other useful sites relevant to the website. I have used an image that has been copyrighted just as practice but can anyone tell me what the limitations are on this image been used for something that will never be browsed through? I was going to have a link to the Airport so that people could plan and check transfers, But i had never thought of public transport, good one! I was going to use a link to a webcam at our concert hall that you can actually control for 2 minutes.I take it you are a bit of an underground type of person then Moon.
