Guest ellas
sorry madboy but cost comes into it,for the money AMD cannot be beaten, but if I had unlimited money probaley go for a pentium4.
Craig
i have been using AMD chips for my own builds. This is because they are cheaper than intels. However the Athlons do need more cooling than pentiums as they give off more heat.I think when i next build one, i will opt for a Pentium as they have that 'hyper threading' technology; and by the time i get round to building one, all the software and other hardware will be up to scratch to use it. Although Pentium are probobally the better of the 2 really and run alot cooler, they are totally overpriced in my opinion - Probobally to pay all the advertising me thinks??? You don't see many AMD ads on TV do you? ;)

Guest Timeforabeer
Hi allI've got both, a P4 (1.7) and an AMD 2000+. I use the AMD in my machine (self build) as i find that they perform better than the equivalent P4 and generally just feel better. But, I would also add that the P4 1.7 surprised me in its speed in some apps.
