Am now trying to print out the Christmas Card labels in Word 97 using Mailmerge from an Excel sheet. Everthing is going OK except that I cannot format the page properly. Went and bought a new pack of labels 21/sheet 63.5 x 38.1 cm, Have tried setting up the custom label layout but the print out doesn't fit the sheet properly. The vertical repeat distance comes out as 4.0, 3.6, 3.6, 4.1, 3.7 and 3.5 cm respectively. Anyone advise 1zhelp Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

-pops- Posted November 30, 2003 Report Share Posted November 30, 2003 Have you checked out the attributes of Avery Design Pro or the Avery Wizard?I'm pretty sure that one or both of these will allow you to import info from a database.You do need to use Avery labels or their clones but this shouldn't be a hardship.Or you could do as I do and think very carefully about Christmas cards, the sentiments behind them and do you really mean the greetings you are sending with the card? I don't think I'm the re-incarnation of Scrooge but several years ago I had a re-think about Christmas and all its false jollity. It is a time for my family - my partner, my two sons and their partners and my grandchildren. My generosity with them knows (almost) no bounds but as for a mass mailshot of greetings cards to people of whom I know little and care about even less, forget it.Outside of the immediate family my Christmas card list amounts to three people - hardly worth setting up an Excel database for as I can remember and handwrite their cards.This brings up another point - printed or computer generated addressed envelopes, even more so printed label envelopes strike of the production line and all the "care and sentiment" which that involves. doug Posted November 30, 2003 Author Report Share Posted November 30, 2003 Well I've sort of cracked it by trial and error - What other scientific method is there? I finished up deleting the header and footer settings in the page layout. Then when settin up the labels I entered 2 spaces before the actual addresses. Mind I'd consumed a lot of cheapo paper in doing this and probably a bit of ink even in drafte mode. But suddenly all the addresses are of a uniform pitch and in the label.Now I expect someone will point out what I've been overlooking. :PYou could say I've resolved the problem - sort of.
