awake
I have a PC running Win XP Pro with Outlook 2002, using a broadband (BT) connection.Problem is, that when outlook does a send/receive it keeps asking for the network password for the pop3 account. There's three accounts in the send/receive group, and the broadband link stays up all the time. The check interval is set to 1 min, though I don't get this problem every minute. So, it appears that 'only sometimes' outlook pops this window up.When the 'Enter network Password' dialog appears, the 'remember pswd' box is already checked. As I say, this doesn't appear to happen every time outlook does a send/receive, so maybe there's something else causing it ?Any thoughts on this would be appreciated ... Guest nellie2
I have this problem sometimes and it usually happens when there are problems with my ISP on the email side of things........Have you checked the BT server status??? -pops-
I'm on BT broadband and have my mail checked by Mailwasher every thirty minutes. In the past week or so about a quarter of all checks have resulted in a false connection and a request for my password. Yesterday it was so bad that I cancelled all auto checking and did it manually once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Both of these checks resulted in a false connection!I've checked with BT service status and there is nothing wrong, according to them. I've not had a reply to my email to them yet (not that I hold much hope out for that)
awake
Did have a feeling that it was a server problem. I wouldn't bother emailing their tech(?) support though, they're hopeless. The fact that it's only 'sometimes' the network connection box appears suggests it's only 'sometimes' being rejected by BT's mail server. Thanks to all for the responses though. Kirbster
Have a look at this thread, it solved my problems, which sound similar but not quite identical!ThreadLet me know if it solves your problem, as it did mine!!! :D
Emmadw
I wonder if it is because it's set to check every minute. I think that the default in OE is to try for 60 seconds to get an account, and as far as I know, once that process starts it appears locked if you try again. I wonder if it's still checking the one before as it were, and getting confused. I'd be tempted to increase the time between Mailwasher checks to say 10 minutes to see if that makes a difference.
