Guest northamuk
This seems like an ideal solution to double glazing and Kitchen sales call, expensive but I want it !!! Guest northamuk
I use Caller Display as well, but Hospitals and Doctor's Surgeries etc. are using the Number Withheld more and more, bleedin' annoying !
bvw
£1 a month with Telewest, worth every penny, no more double glazing calls etc. But, as Northy said, some calls you may need can't get through. Why would people want to withhold their number anyway? Guest northamuk
bvw, they will get through, but only if they redial and don't withhold the number.
Guest Grim Reaper
there are some numbers such as my work where the number is not withheld, its simply not available....our company has a private phone network (supplied by BT).This means that no matter what we do, the number cannot be given out and thus i wouldnt be able to phone home!! Sir Radfordin
The reason why some companies withold their number is that since BT introduced 1471 they had people ringing up the switchboard saying "you rang me" but then no-one had a clue who rang them. Much better for them not to know!

andsome
We have found a very satisfactory solution to junk calls. When we had NTL cable, we elected to be available from Telephone Directories, but NOT listed in the phone book. These annoying calls all come from company's trawling the phone books or data bases, no one is going to pick names and addresses out of a hat and phone telephone directories, only people who know you will do so. From probably a dozen or more such calls per week, we have not had a single junk call since changing over about four years ago. So those who get bothered this way, ask your supplier to change your number and DON'T appear in the book.
-pops-
Am I the only one who never gets junk calls?I signed up with the telephone and Fax preference services in, I think, 1996 when I began working from home. I don't think I've received a single junk call since then - and it didn't cost me anything, well, perhaps a stamp.
