Chris Posted December 5, 2003 Report Share Posted December 5, 2003 An email that has been recieved [supposedly from you] is an email that was not requested.An example would be SPAM.Check you mail clients SENT folder for evidence of sent email that you know you have NOT sent.I would suggest you also scan for a virus.If BT has emailed you about this then i would suspect unsolicted emails in the region of a 100+Also contact the popele in your address book and have them scan for a virus. -pops- Posted December 5, 2003 Report Share Posted December 5, 2003 As this is becoming a fairly common event you would think, wouldn't you, that ISP's should be wise to this address spoofing and be a bit more sympathetic to anyone caught out by it.The other week one of my friends showed me a letter he'd had from his ISP with all sorts of threats in it about denial of service if he continued the practice, warnings of legal proceedings etc. It was downright rude and insulting and my friend hadn't a clue what was going on - he certainly hadn't been sending spam, I don't think he'd have a clue how to, being nearly eighty and a relatively newbie. He is now with a different ISP.I had a good search round inside his machine and couldn't find anything untoward or wrong with it and as far as I know the problem has gone away but he still feels stung being accused and insulted like he was :angry: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
