I've got a new dog

Timber.

He was bought last year as a Christmas present supposedly for my granddaughters. In fact he was bought for me to encourage me to exercise more.

He's named Timber because he's heavily built and because there is a hard consonant at the start of the name which makes it easy for the dog to recognise. Only the "Ti" or "Tim" part of the name is necessary when calling him. The name is also the same as a dog of the same breed (old fashioned Golden Retriever - the large size version) that I had as a child.

My moniker on here (pops) is because that is the name my granddaughters started calling me and even the dog now knows that "pops" is me. Everyone knows me as pops now. :) :) :)

I'm not sure your name (Herpes) is a hard enough sound for the dog to easily recognise.
