You know how sometimes windows spontaneously slows down for half a minute after startup for no apparent reason? Well I'm no expert but apparently its caused by wmiexe.exe a program that runs in the background. Windows claims it sends system information to different devices that need it although most people I have asked say they can't actually find out what it does. Either way I hate having worthless programs running in the background and I'm wondering if it would be safe to get rid of. I have heard from some people that they have gotten rid of it and windows worked fine, actually better than fine. http://www.methylblue.com//tweaks/wmiexe.phpCheck out that link. -pops- Posted December 25, 2003 Report Share Posted December 25, 2003 Which Windows version? I can't find in in XP Pro and your link only refers to W98 and ME. From what your reference says, it seems a big risk to take messing about with something that is only a minor annoyance. Always remember that much damage can be caused to your machine by unnecessary fiddling about with it. To my mind, this very minor delay that you are finding comes very low down on the list of priorities.If it does cause irritation, do as I do and leave the machine to do all its loading etc on startup while you go and make a cup of tea.
