:o I Drive - generic SCSI DVD-ROM drive

:o + a SCSI controller.

If I uninstall them from device Manager they just reappear at the next reboot.

Where have they come from ? :blink: :blink: :blink:

I've only got installed the ASUS DVD-ROM and currently a borrowed Sony 52x24x52 CD/RW as my normal 40x16x40 Freecom has gone back for repair under its 2 year guarantee.

Boris, do you have CloneCD installed ?

On one of my systems in the past this was responsible for a SCSI cdrom and dvd rom being reported by Aida, never did check in device mangler tho.

Clone CD - No but AIDA does find the SCSI DVD as well :D

what mobo drivers do you have?

there was a problem with a set of via drivers reporting ide devices as scsi....cant remember which set tho...

Its an ASUS P4S533-MX mobo

Chipset is SiS 651 - so no VIA drivers.

Just a thought ??? - I've just noticed that my daughter's boyfriend has apparently installed Daemon Tools on the PC :o

Its not actually running as far as I can see ???.

I'm not familiar with this - but it apparently does some sort of virtual drive mounting process - so is this the cause ? :unsure: :unsure: :unsure:

Yep -Daemon Tools was the creator of the virtual devices.

Interestingly, even when you uninstall it, the devices remain !

The drivers though are definitely from the Daemon Tools installation.
