Just rung Serif to order PagePlus8 PDF Edition for £9.95 which I feel isn't a bad price for creating the odd PDF and see what else it does.

Was offered Version 9 and Draw 5 for £49.99 which I wasn't interested in but they tired much harder than they have before! Even asking what the weather was like where I am!!!

So be careful, they seem to be selling the same good software at a good price but there does seem to be a bit more 'hard sell' going on as well!

I detest Word with a venom I cannot describe

In that case, have a look at Open Office http://www.openoffice.org/

Better even than the Serif efforts in that it is totally without charge so there is no hard sell.

Open Office is entirely M$ Office compatible.

I just got an offer in the post-   Page Plus 7 and Draw Plus 5 plus a 4 port USB hub, £3.95 the lot !    The hub is described as 'USB 1 compatible ' though.  Doesn't do a lot for my confidence.  :D

That is because you have failed to understand the workings of USB. As there is basically USB1 and USB2 to which the latter is currently present in modern day motherboards as it the standard for USB.

Its faster...

There are many people that ask "Can i plug my scanner into a USB1 "hole" as the scanner is USB2?"

To which i would answer "Yes you can it will just not work as fast"

All serif are saying is that you plug it into aUSB connection weather 1 or 2.

:P

I hope you send an email to serif to apologise :P

;) :sneaky:

I think :o

No it ain't. It's because Serif have failed to grasp the simplicities of emphasis.

If they'd have said ' USB 2 compatible' I'd have known that it was backwards-compatible with USB 1. By saying 'USB 1 compatible' they are implying that it can't handle USB 2. :D

Cheers, -pops-. I'm aware of Open Office but it's a huge download so I'll have to look out for it on disk. :)
