We have some 8 users on the pc, and some of them are "know a littles" who tend to play....so i did some tweaking in the policy editor, disabling various items (including control panel, tweak ui, regedit, and mmc) The problem is that these items cannot be disabled for individual users, only across the whole machine and now i seem to have locked myself out of the whole shebang too......so, any ideas how to access the various items??I have searched the MS KB with no joy, am a little stuck where to go now!! -pops- Posted February 5, 2004 Report Share Posted February 5, 2004 Have you carried out the actions suggested in the referred thread?(Especially the contribution from myself :( ) I cannot emphasise too strongly the wisdom of having full backups - even more so on machines that may have something more than a few amusements stored in them, as yours appears to have, and also in the presence of compulsive twiddlers, fiddlers and tweakers. -pops- Posted February 5, 2004 Report Share Posted February 5, 2004 Don't leave it too long if you're trying a System Restore. As the restore points are made on a rotating basis with the oldest one being replaced by a new one, there is a possibility that you could lose the one(s) that you need.Also remember that System Restore does NOT take you complete system back to what it was on the date/time specified. This is apparent from the statement that the process does not cause you to lose files and data - this being the case, what else does it retain?System Restore is most defintitely not a replacement for the old fashioned backup.
