Boris
This is a previous version of the current program SpySweeper (version 2.2 of which I myself use).It now appears to be freeware :o - so well worth a download ????Spy Sweeper safely detects and removes more traces of spyware than any other program including; Trojans, adware, keyloggers and system monitoring tools (e.g. Gator, Xupiter, Backorifice and more).Spy Sweeper spy definition databases are updated on a regular basis, offering protection against the latest threats, arming you with knowledge including background information such as where spies came from and the level of harm they pose, and offering recommendations on how to protect yourself and your PC. Spy Sweeper offers the ability to quarantine (or disable) spyware, preventing the spy from functioning, but still allowing you access to your favorite free or shareware programs. Don't get caught without protection from harmful spyware that invades your privacy and can even lead to identity theft. Protect yourself and your PC with the most comprehensive anti-spyware available. Download the new Webroot Spy Sweeper today - it's free!"http://shareware.pcmag.com/product.php?id=63163&SiteID=pcmag
Chris
I think there is a point where you can get to the point of PARANOIA!!What you have to remember is that there is a world out there full of fascinating and exciting things, to be explored or to be discovered. It's at times like this i feel like packing and going to New Zealand where I will say "NO" to a computer. If you people are seriously concerned about spyware they would:1) Have a standalone computer that it is not connected to the internet or a network2) Secure it using the best technology can buy!Summary: By all means Boris give it a whirl and tell us what you think but remeber to enjoy your computing and not get drenched in the downloading of Anti-Spyware programs...The Truth is out thereIf you Build one, they will come! Boris
Got a bit little bored last night - so uninstalled my current version and installed this free one instead.DrawbacksYou have to give them an email-address during install to get it activated (but it doesn't need to be a real address !)It works OK as a scanner - but the spyware database as installed has only 2,500 odd entries. The current database has 20,594 entries. You can't get any database updates for it unless you subscribe for a year at $29.95.Consequently - use it as a free trial and if you like the principle of what it does - then get the full product V2.2 with a one-year update subscription. I'm unpinning this thread as a result of my findings.
