Blue screen error

Recommended Posts

Just restarted PC, on coming back in after making a cuppa was presented with a blue screen error. :( :(

Memory management

0x0000001A(0x00041785,0xc0c00000,0x8116B4B8,0x00000000)

I've restarted again and chose the option-last good configuration-and everything seems to be working ok. Any ideas on what caused it? Is this an indication of further problems I wonder

Hi christmascracker, if this is just a one-off, then I would not worry about it. These things happen (more often than you would like to believe :( ). It could have had one of many possible causes, and in all probability you will never actually find out the reason why.

I would only become concerned, if it starts to happen on a regular basis, in which case it will become easier to trace, and we can sort it out then (if needed, which I doubt :P )

Hope this helps.

regards. Mr. M.

You will need to remove the sticks and test them seperately madboy.

Are they a matched pair? Or at the least two sticks of the same spec. I have known memtest to throw up errors when two slightly different sticks have been tested together, but you will get no errors when tested apart.

Also, don't forget the possibility of an iffy slot. If you still get errors when tested apart, try moving the stick to a different slot.

Good Luck.

Mr. M.

May have been a blip in the mains.

Living in the back of beyond, we get regular power cuts. Once, following a cut, I was booting up again and the power went off a second time mid-boot. When it came back a third time I had a blue screen. I panicked a bit, shut down with the power off button and started up again. Everything has been OK since (2 months) :)

The saying 'nowt so queer as folk' should be applied to computers as well I think
