Chris
(Please wait whilst images load)Windows XP is "Set" to automatically restart when it stops unexpectedly. Generally this is good and convenient and once your computer has restarted you can continue as normal. However if you find Windows XP is constantly restarting, this is more than likely a sign; that Windows XP is having a problem that needs your attention. To stop Windows XP from automatically restarting:[Classic Start Menu]Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, System.[start Menu]Click Start, Control Panel. Now click the Advanced tab and then click Settings [third]. [see pic below]Uncheck the box next to: Automatically Restart Now click OK [see pic below]Windows XP will not actually restart when it stops unexpectedly it will actually display a blue screen. The text that is shown will be the reason why Windows XP wants to restart. However you will have to decipher the information you are being shown as its not in simple English. The best place to find out what the message you are being shown means is probably Microsoft's own support page:Windows XP Support Centre You can then find out why Windows XP wants to restart and how you can prevent it.
