djohn
Hi Rebel. Not quite sure what you mean? If you are referring to in-house credit cards then yes, I believe you have the same protection and consumer rights as if it you had used a normal credit card. Can you give a little more detail and one of the members may be able to advise. j. prctr
I don't know how it is over there, but in the U.S., provided you have a receipt, the store MUST give you your money back, and cannot simply issue a store credit. Generally, a store credit is used when the merchandise came from that store, but the customer returning it cannot show a receipt. In the case of a credit card purchase, the store may simply credit the customer's account, and has the right to do that, and NOT issue a cash refund.Hope this helps (provided the laws are the same) these are fairly widespread prcatices.
andsome
In the UK you do NOT have to accept a credit if goods are faulty, you can choose a refund or an exchange. If there is nothing wrong with the goods, you have no rights at all, and if offered a credit this is just good will on the part of the store. If as I suspect, you just don't like what you bought, then be grateful that you have been offered a credit note.
djohn
If I have understood your question correctly. You have purchased a game from a store and don't like it for some reason. If this is correct then the store is being generous in offering to give you a credit note for something else. It's not the fault of the store that you don't like the purchase and by law they don't even have to offer you credit or exchange. If the item is faulty for any reason or sold to you under a false impression. [iE: you said it must work with windows XP and the store said it would. Then you find on getting home it will only work with Windows 98] You have the right to ask for your money back or your credit card re-credited. if you paid by credit card.If the item is faulty or not "As advertised" then do not accept a credit note. The law states you are entitled to a full refund in the same method you paid. The store is breaking the law by tying you to them with a credit note.Pop into your local CAB and get the leaflet explaining this and stick it under his nose.[Edit] just a couple of spelling errors and to say good afternoon andsome!

-pops-
If there is nothing wrong with the goods, you have no rights at all,you sure Yep!The shop is not responsible for the foibles of your mind wanting or not wanting the items purchased. If the goods are as described and not faulty the shop has no responsibility whatever in taking them back or refunding anything at all.If it is the case that you just don't want whatever it is, I think you should consider yourself lucky that you can get even a credit note. djohn
Hi Rebel. Although I'm no expert on the consumer law I think I've understood it correctly, both -pops- and andsome agree along the same lines, so I think we are correct. Is it just because you don't like it or is there something wrong with it?If it's because you don't like it then accept the credit note as it's a generous offer from the store, something they have no obligation to offer.
