  1. I've just recently encountered a baffling problem: I browse to some folders in Explorer, and the files I expect to see are all there. However, every app I've tried to open or otherwise load these files reports "File not found"! Opening a cmd window and performing a Dir command also shows all the files. I found a couple of apps that promise to reveal extended info about specified files, but when I navigate to these files and select one to process, both of these tools also report "File not found". I've run chkdsk and other utils on the drive holding these files several times, and each time it reports no errors found. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro SP1 with the latest updates. WTF? Can anyone help me resolve this weird issue, please?
  2. I have previously posted the following on a microsoft forum yesterday but i thought the more websites i post it on the more the problem can get out and the more chance of solving it . "Every time i start up my computer after a certain amount of time or just after i open almost any application, it will crash. after that nothing will work, cant click anything cant ctrl-alt-del, cant ctrl-sft-esc, absolutely nothing works. If i try the click anywhere after that explorer.exe (i suspect) wont respond and never sorts itself out. This is the 5th time this year it has happened, every other time i have just re-installed the whole thing (windows-and all programs) sometimes leaving out programs that i thought might cause it such as Skype, TS3 and MS essentials like messenger and movie maker. It also just happened one day after turning the computer on, i didnt install anything new previously, no virus' so on so forth, COMPLETELY random. Nothing worked, i looked everywhere online for anybody having the same problem but to no avail of anybody on win 7 and none where the the non responding explorer would need a restart. I have checked the event logs for app, system... so on and have only found warnings/errors as follows. Log name: application, Event id: 10 Event filter query 'SELECT' FROM_instanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE target instance ISA "win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.Load percentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace"//./root/CIMV2 because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. This may be the obvious cause of the problem but i looked it up and i wasn't sure, i only know of the general computer info, I'm not this into it. 2nd event was just and error with sideshow1 which i believe is just an application error to do with my G510 keyboard LCD screen. Last of all one of the nights i thought i might leave it over night instead of shutting down to see what happens, i thought it would be the same but instead it was on startup saying it could not find the hard drive with the windows files. Again im not sure if connected with above error but i checked all the cables and everything was fine. If you know anything please help me out i cant do anything else about it with my knowledge. Cheers in advance Ryno P.S. if you need any info about the system E.G. programs, specs Etc."
  3. thanks for the help in advance. I am having a very interesting issue with my work computer which is running Windows 7. When I plug in an ntfs drive it crashes explorer. If I close explorer in the task manager and run new task explorer.exe it shows up in task manager but does not pop up on screen. If I try and shutdown after plugging in the drive, it just hangs on shutting down. FAT32 drives work fine, but some of the files I work with are over 4 gigs so I need my ntfs drive to work. I have tried several different ntfs drives and they all do the same thing. When I plug them in other computers they work fine. All FAT32 drives work. Almost every link on google is purple for the searches "ntfs drive freezes explorer", or "external harddrive is not recognized by windows 7" and dozens of other searches. I have tried to look at it through disk management, but the second I plug in the drive it crashes and will never load again. One thing it does do, is in my computer Local Disk E:/ pops up and tries to load. But it never loads, the drive I am using is a toshiba, but I have used WD and other drives and they all do the same thing. I have hit a dead end and I have no idea what to do. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
