Outlook

When I open my Outlook, if I have new messages, a pop-up appears warning me as follows:

A program is trying to access e-mail addresses you have stored in

Outlook. Do you want to allow this?

If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose No

(at the bottom of the window I have a choice of Yes or No)

The same pop-up appears, if my Outlook is opened, every time I receive a new e-mail.

I ran my Norton Antivirus and was not able to get rid of this bug.

Can someone help me?

Hello jacques_oconnor, and welcome to the Forum.

This is not a problem I have seen before, so let us start by trying to get a few more details. What version of Outlook are you using? What version of Norton, and is it up to date for it's av definitions? Do you have any other software on your machine, which you might expect to want to check for the email addresses? What happens if you launch Outlook Express? Is Outlook configured to be your default mail handler, it may be that OE is checking when you open the program if it is set to be the default.

It may be messenger plus which is embedderd in outlook , I upgraded to plus , (6.2 I think) , and my ad aware, spy-bot ,and spy-ware blaster went nuts , around 172 items to delete , so after a bit of fiddling I got rid of the plus .....There were a lot of tracking cookie things .......

If you've got messenger with the funky stuff, its that , which kick off when you start outlook ......
