I was wondering wether anyone could advise me on cooling stuff eg casefans and stuff i was also wondering if anyone could recommend a psu. Agent Smith Posted May 15, 2004 Report Share Posted May 15, 2004 Hi Besty, I have recently bought a Tagan TG480-U01 480W Silent PSU from Overclockers and so far I can really recommend it :D As for other cooling, if you go with a good heatsink and fan for your processor, and perhaps a cooling system for your graphics card then unless you intend to really overclock the processor, that should be sufficient. It also helps to replace all your cables with the nice round ones, and to heatshrink the other cables to improve airflow around your case.Mr. M. -pops- Posted May 15, 2004 Report Share Posted May 15, 2004 Remember that case fans should blow INTO the case at the front low level and OUT of the case at the rear, high level (near to the CPU and heatsink/fan). If you only have one case fan that should be at the rear, high level. Make sure in all cases that the grill or vent/filter at the front is not clogged with dust and that there is nothing piled up in front of it preventing a good access of air.Operating the machine with the side removed and having holes, vents and bits missing from the case (PCI cover plates etc.) will alter the airflow and could possibly result in higher temperatures than with having the side in position.And yes, round cables on your IDE connections do make a diference. On my machines now I use different colour cables, not for decoration but as tracers showing me what is connected to where (I normally have three or more hard drives).
