I am trying to back up the My Documents folder from the users on a Windows XP machine partition with WindowsXP (broken) and Windows 2000 (works fine) but there was a password set by one of the users in Windows XP and now I cannot get into the folder from Win2k.

Any ideas? there must be an option to get around this..

I have administrator rights on the win2k machine.

No, none of those things helped, but I did fix it. thanks anyways

Here's how I did it:

1. Right click the folder in which to remove the security. (In my case 'x:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\' (where x is the partition windows is installed on.

2. Go to the Security Tab.

3. Go to Advance Options.

4. Delete the current owner from the current owner (or some system name like s-0234-asdf-aj23h4-was;djfk whatever it may be).

5. Set yourself as the default owner (must be logged on as administrator or have administrator rights).

6. Access your folder.

Thanks for input everyone. :)
