Houghton11 Posted June 20, 2004 Report Share Posted June 20, 2004 Yo all,After uninstalling Red Hat Linux 9, following uninstallation instructions, i used the recovery console and rebuilt the Master Boot Record, fixed the boot entries, and got rid of the GRUB OS loader. Unfortunatly, i created a bunch of useless Boot Selections with the BOOTCFG command. baskar1234 Posted June 20, 2004 Report Share Posted June 20, 2004 Hello Houghton,You can use the Bootcfg command again (IN THE RECOVERY CONSOLE)to rebuild the Boot.ini file.Bootcfg /REBUILDThe above command will rescan the partitions for windows installations and ask you which to add. I used the BOOTCFG ?Rebuild command and it did exactly what it was supposed to do, added a boot choice....now I have 3 choices; all for XP. What I would like to do is get rid of all the choices and make Windows boot normally (no OS selection Menu...just straight into Windows)On the United Kindom thighy, I was just registering and I guess I accidently slected the UK.....but hey.....Canada is still part of the Commonwealth.... :)Thanks for the Welcome! Chris Posted June 20, 2004 Report Share Posted June 20, 2004 Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced, Settings [third], UNCheck: "Time to display list of operating systems"Click OK.This will just boot into XP without the list.You can edit the boot selection by clicking EDIT but make sure you delete the correct entries.
